A N Z E I G E

Ehem. WCW Kommentator Mark Madden über Heenan, Ric Flair, ECW, uvm. [englisch]

  • Hier eine Zusammenfassung von einem Mark Madden Interview. Eventuell übersetze ich es am Abend noch, aber ich wollte es euch nicht vorenthalten:

Thanks to the guys at http://www.inyourheadonline.com for typing this recap of the latest edition of GIR, which is now playing in Real Audio only on AudioWrestling.com!

In the most controversial segment of the interview Mark goes off on Bobby Heenan. He prefaces it with Bobby being the best color man of all time. Claims he was fired for being loaded all the time, and it sickens Mark that Bobby is revered and he was very unprofessional. That Bobby showed up drunk all the time. That in real life no one would be cut slack for being drunk because of their reputations. Mark rips on Meltzer and other "so called journalists" for praising Bobby. And covering up Heenan's drinking. That Meltzer was friends with Tenay who's friends with Bobby. Madden says he isn't going after Bobby but people who covered up Bobby's reasons for getting fired.

    Here are other highlights.

Mark Madden talks about his Out Of Bounds radio show on ESPN. And his co-authoring of the Ric Flair autobiography. Mentioning rewriting the book, because the original book wasn't written by a wrestling fan, and used too many inside terms by Flair. Madden also asks if people should take Flair's critique on wrestlers as gospel or opinions, since he was the greatest of all time. Mark says there are too many books by people who don't deserve a book, such as DDP. Mark says you have to respect his honesty through out the book. Including Flair's opinions on Mick Foley. They get into Flair's opinions of Bret Hart. Madden says both Flair and Hart had similar matches often, but Hart couldn't adjust if the match was mixed up. And that Hart was a bad champion because he didn't draw. Mark says he hates Hulk Hogan but since he drew the most money he has to be considered the best champion ever.

Mark says wrestling was the healthiest when people could suspend disbelief, and it didn't rub it in your face. They talk about ECW. Mark says there's enough fans to have a reunion show, but not to keep it going all the time. Mark Madden says he is a big Heyman fan and TNA should bring him in to book. He saw bits of the ECW PPV. Mark said you can't recreate the atmosphere. He thinks ECW was always garbage wrestling. Mark talks about the ECW style, and tells a story of Terry Funk giving him a shot in his book because he didn't sell his garbage can shot well on commentary in WCW.

Madden says he still watches wrestling if Flair or Jericho is on. And keeps in touch with Nash, Shannon Moore and Disco Inferno. He can't remember the last PPV he bought.

They ask him if Cena has it to be a big draw. Mark says the rapper gimmick has ran its course but he has it. He's very impressed with his look and talent. The hosts ask if HHH will keep him down. Madden says no one can keep down someone with talent, and he's a big HHH fan.

Madden gets into Batista. He says he's the traditional WWE big man. And Eddie and Benoit didn't get over because they weren't big. He said he didn't agree, but WWE conditions their fans that way.

Mark talks about the last Smackdown show in Pennsylvania, and the security guard wouldn't let him back stage. He says he couldn't care less that WWE couldn't care less about him. Mark says Flair made sure he was always part of the book.

They ask if Batista going to Smackdown will be bad for him. He says if Smackdown is the B show it will take the luster off him. Phantom says its HHH's way of taking the shine off of him by sending him off RAW. Mark says he is giving HHH too much credit. Madden defends HHH against criticism of manipulations. And that HHH has drawn as champion.

Adam asks if Nash wants back in wrestling. Mark says he wants to get into movies. They talk about the recent Torch Talk. Madden says Nash understands wrestling and should book, but not be on TV if he books.

Madden rips apart the Death of WCW book, saying it was just reprints of newsletters. Mark says the booking was impossible because of guys like Hulk Hogan refusing to do what was written and needing to rewrite the shows.

They ask Madden why he was mad at RD for putting his match with Gene Okerland in wrestlecrap (a story talked about by Reynolds on inyourheadonline.com ). Mark claims he wasnt mad about that.

They ask about Madden's last appearance on GIR and calling all the fans lemmings. Mark says he thinks the fans are all lemmings. He says the internet fans never mattered.

Madden says the Torch is the best newsletter out there. For breaking news Meltzer is the guy.

They ask him about the Matt Hardy situation. He feels bad for everyone, and it shouldn't of been put on TV to ridicule his personal life for an angle that wont draw money. He sees Hardy coming back.

In closing they ask him what happened to his old website. Mark says it's unbelievable the amount of stupidity on wrestling message boards.

Note: The opinions of Mark Madden are his and his alone, and are not necessarily shared by PWInsider.com (or any other sane person for that mattter!).
