Kenta Kobashi was replaced as Vice President at the 10/6 stockholders meeting. Akira Taue was elected president once again, while Naomichi Marufuji was also elected as a Vice President along with Takeshi Morishima. Takashi Sugiura was named manager. Kobashi really was more of a figurehead in the Vice President position as he wasn’t part of day-to-day handling of business and never actually did any office work, so this really doesn’t change anything. He was something of a locker room leader. Right now he just wants to be a wrestler. Kobashi last year had issues with Ryu Nakata, when Nakata wanted to cut some of the wrestlers because the company was not doing well financially, plus there were those who considered some of the guys in question dead weight on the cards. Kobashi fought to keep people’s jobs with the idea that the have’s could take a cut to allow the have nots to stay employed. Kobashi actually resigned secretly on 9/29. He is no longer on the board, but has not sold his share of company stock, although that may not be worth much these days.

Some more notes regarding Kenta Kobashi resigning as Vice President of the company. It was more than symbolic as there were financial aspects. Kobashi resigned as president and Jun Akiyama resigned as a member of the Board of Directors (the latter of which didn’t get publicity). In doing so, both men were giving up their guaranteed salary for their positions in the office and are now both working on a per-match basis, which is awful at both men’s stage of life.
